Our family hosted a “Christmas Vacation” themed holiday party! It was so much fun! I wish I took more pictures of all the things but I was too busy having too much fun! Some of us even dressed as Clark, Mary (that would be me), and a couple of Cousin Eddies! The majority of people wore Christmas Vacation shirts! There is always next Christmas to throw another Christmas Vacation Themed Party and I will HAVE to get more pictures!
We had a couple of desserts that represented the movie. Aunt Bethany’s Jello and Clark’s tangled lights brownies!
The brownies I made were from Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Premium Brownie Mix. I then decorated with green frosting and some Christmas light candies I found in the store. I used 12-INCH-DISPOSABLE-CAKE-DECORATING-BAG and NO. 5 ROUND DECORATING TIP to make the string for the lights.
We also had chips and salsa and of course a cheese and meat board.
I also made one of our families favorite Christmas cookie, Andes Mint Cookies.
And of course I had to make my Chewy Molasses Cookies.
Also my husbands favorite Christmas time cookie, Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies.
We also had my famous gigantic Chocolate Chip Cookies, M&M Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies.
We even had Jelly Of The Month Tray. I got the idea from The Hive Blog. I didn’t get a picture of my own set up (of course), but below is a picture from The Hive Blog.
We also made Griswold Quote Bubbles so people could take pictures with them. You can find them here.
We had the Christmas Vacation movie playing on repeat and put up this game to play throughout the house.
Other details we had around the house were the fried up cat, a squirrel in our tree that I got from the craft store (Michaels), a movie trivia game that we printed on 3 x 5 cards, and a decorating cookie station for the kids, and a Hot Cocoa Bar.
We had Chipotle cater. It was a hit! Everyone enjoyed the food.
We went with BUILDING YOUR OWN Menu and we went with the TRIPLE Menu.
Here is what we got:
Create your own tacos, bowls, and salads. Pick THREE proteins (chicken, carnitas, steak, barbacoa, sofritas, or guacamole), and get all the toppings (fajita veggies, cheese, or sour cream) and bases (white rice, brown rice, salad lettuce, black beans, or pinto beans). The Triple also comes with chips, guacamole, queso, salad vinaigrette, crispy corn and soft flour tortillas, and all four salsas.
We had about 20 plus people over and we still had leftovers.
This was our first themed Christmas Party and it will be one we will never forget. So much fun that was had!
Until next time…
