Everything in moderation, except avocados. Who is with me here?!?!
Guys, this is literally the best homemade guacamole recipe ever! It’s by Ina Garten and anything she whips up is seriously hands down delicious. Thank you Ina Garten!
I mean my mom hated guacamole until I made this for a family dinner. Now she request for it all the time. She says she will not eat anyones guacamole but mine. How awesome is that?!?!
What I love about this dip is that it calls for less than 10 ingredients and you can whip this up in no time at all. Most of the ingredients you probably already have on hand and only need to go to the store for a handful of things.
This dish is prefect for last minute gatherings where you need to come up with a dish quick. A quick trip to the grocery store for the few items and a bag of chips you will have yourself a bomb diggity out of this world dish.
Tips & Tricks:
- The only ingredient I swapped out from the original recipe was the Tabasco sauce for a jalapeño pepper because I love everything spicy!!! However I find that adding 1 jalapeño does not make it spicy. I have a good friend who is not a fan of anything spicy and it does not bother her. If it were me and because I LOVE spicy I would add more jalapeños but feel free to omit the jalapeños or the Tabasco sauce from the original recipe.
- My favorite chips to eat with guacamole are the Siete Sea Salt Grain Free Tortilla Chips.
Steps On How To Make Easy Guacamole:
First, gather all your ingredients.
- 4 ripe Haas avocados
- 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (1 lemon)
- 1 jalapeño, diced, seeds removed
- 1/2 cup small red onion, diced (1 small onion)
- 1 large garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 medium tomato, seeded, and small-diced
Next, cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh out of their shells into a large bowl.
Then, immediately add the lemon juice, diced jalapeño, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper and mix until combined.
Last, add the tomatoes. Mix well and taste for salt and pepper.
Serve with your favorite tortilla chips.
BEST METHODS TO KEEP GUACAMOLE FROM BROWNING:
First, always put the guacamole in a bowl that has a tight-fitting lid. Pack the guacamole tightly in the bowl, pressing out any air bubbles.
- Method 1: Seal guacamole with plastic wrap.
- Method 2: Add lots of extra lemon or lime juice and then seal with plastic wrap.
- Method 3: Sprinkle lemon or lime juice on top of guacamole, insert a pit into center, and then seal with plastic wrap.
- Method 4: Press olive oil onto plastic wrap and then seal guacamole with plastic wrap.
- Method 5: Pat down guacamole, top with a little water, and then seal with plastic wrap. When ready to eat, take off the lid and and gently pour out the water. Stir up the guacamole to incorporate any extra moisture.
When I say seal with plastic wrap I mean make sure you press the plastic wrap into the guacamole leaving no air to get to it.
